Description | as a thought you might adjust splash damage from all sources to scale against speed of target. not sure if this is too much computation but would allow flak turrets and other siege units to have better effect for such low range. flak 24k 2.4x on small/fast .1-.3 on immobile to armored. fighter speed 84 light(oddly not a hull the flak would be the counter too) bomber 72(also not a hull with modifiers)also always seemed a bit fast missle 44(also no bonuses)always seemed too slow given rate of fire all ships have 154k health. requiring 7 shots to kill give or take splash splash damage seems to be 1% damage? thus need 700 near misses to kill swarm i can understand alot of fire being desirable from balance perspective but the ability for ships to scatter means that not much of this splash ever actually hits. thus splash is not effective and goes unused except in exceptional circumstances. my thoughts are split between aoe being designed to counter speed vs range. my thought i that first, aoe likely should hurt friendly targets and be buffed in damage. but damage should be multiplied times speed as a percentage. thus faster units are hit harder because they are in larger arc of fire. likely that units wont die much to splash like this but it would have a significant impact on longevity and ability to use splash units. on the other hand aoe siege is used in the opposite manner. stationary targets are hit so hard that nearby objects get hurt. so siege would use the opposite mechanic that the faster you are the less damage you take. so rather than say bomber starships being unable to target small objects they will get classed as siege and so only slower and larger targets are appealing. | ||||
