Description | As said here: http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,11543.msg118908.html#msg118908 a little known fact of the Spire Starship is that they ignore gravity effects, just like all the SpireCraft do. They are one of the few things that can reliably attack gravity drill planets. This looks like a theme for the spire ships. But sadly it is not. The Spire Capital Ships and Spire fleet ships do not ignore gravity effects. My suggestion is to make it a theme. Give all spire ships gravity ignoring effects. This would make some setups very OP. Gravity driller AI with spire blade spawners ships for example. I think in this case the spire blade spawners would be to strong (as they can now attack any system) and should not get this (which is a thematic problem in my suggestion). | ||||

I agree, this is pretty cool. In other words, pretty much every other form of "defense" has a counter. Tractor Beam Immunity for Tractor Beams. Radar Dampening for Missiles and Snipers. Shell and Laser Immunity for several ships. Fortress Immunity for Polycrystal. Etc. etc. I don't think gravity effects should have no immunities; I haven't seen a good argument for why they would, considering that pretty much every other type of defense does. |

Yeah, the game does have these counters, but only a few units are immune to gravity. I was trying to suggest that all spire ships share this immunity. So far, playing against grav drillers is frustrating. (Esp when the AI gets sniper ships). And that some spire ships have grav immunity and others do not. Without any explanation was a bit strange to me. |

SpireCraft get gravity immunity. The Spire Starship gets gravity immunity. Spire fleet ships do NOT get gravity immunity. Spire Capital Ships do NOT get gravity immunity. It's not all the same, but it's not random, either. |

How about making all "non-spawned" Spire stuff (which atm, would only exclude Spire blades, but not the spawners) immune to gravity. That should keep the Spire blade spawner from becoming way OP. This still does leave the question of Spire mini-rams. (And Spirecraft rams, if they do not already have grav immunity). The idea of a melee ship that is immune to gravity kind of scares me... |
