Summary | 0009111: Animations for playable character prioritized on scheduled "art revamp".
Description | I have to admit, I like the current art style and the procedural display of the indivdual background elements, though the revealed art revamp is bound to improve this even more so. I would, however, like to emphasize the single frame animations for the playable character as being the weakest element visually. Since we spend so much time looking at our guy/gal running around and shooting stuff, having that as smooth as possible is my personal preference for a visual improvement. I found that my character didn't face the mouse cursor whenever shooting at an enemy approaching from behind as well. If you wanted to get really sophisticated, you might consider varying up some of the different jump positions as they fly through the air and shoot in different angles. Think Matrix instead of Metroid's screw attack. Just a thought.

The animations will be improved some in the art revamp, that's for sure. But, keep in mind that each of the 40+ playable characters in the game has it's own art/animations. So any improvment of things like that can be a lot more costly than it might seem. |
