Description | **TL;DR edit: Sorry this took so long to explain. It is /very/ bizarre. Suffice to say, Meteor missions are acting as if up to four meteors are hitting a stockpile if both of the 2 players present miss a particular meteor. Stockpiles seem to take massively increased, truly unpreventable damage if you don't attempt them alone.** I've noticed in playing on our home network using a LAN server on the same machine as one of the player's--which has been a very reliable method for other LAN games, I might add--that the Meteor missions behave very strangely. Specifically, the game /appears/ to act as if each player has their own copies of meteors or something so that even if I knock mine aside, for the other player it's as if there's a meteor still there that ends up hitting the stash anyway. One player will be shooting at meteors and knocking them aside to no apparent effect, and when meteors DO hit a stockpile it acts as if multiple hits have occurred. The damage half of the issue may be due to increased damage due to multiplayer for balancing issues, perhaps. But the fact that these missions are basically unplayable when 2 or 3 players are present is very annoying. D: We've tried the same mission with one person staying in the mission entrance and it seemed fine, but when we tried together, the stockpiles went down /very/ quickly. It's very bizarre. It seems to go beyond even just me not seeing the other player's (invisible to me) meteors hit a stash because they missed one. It's as if, even if I knock mine away, if I don't knock an extra, invisible, intangible copy of that same meteor away, a hit registers on the stash anyway. And this /seems/ to maybe even be happening for /each/ player so that each hit can do up to (players_present_squared) damage, or something, if nobody hits a particular meteor. D: | ||||

Had you attempted any meteor missions in multiplayer in previous versions? Was it any different? Thanks for letting us know and for the detailed explanation :) |

Oops, forgot to mention other versions. :) Yeah, I can't remember exactly which version(s) we had been playing on, but this has definitely occurred in other minor version numbers. We hadn't started playing multiplayer until version 1.2 official came out, I believe. So I can't give you any more information than that except that it's been occurring since about 1.2. :) |

Hmm odd, I mostly do Defend Supply Depot missions with 1 other player on my 1.200 MP server and I've never encountered this problem. Instead I get bug 0009008, but I'm guessing these two are related, so I'll add the relation. |
