Summary | 0008903: increase chance of finding wind shelters in secret missions after all bonus structures have been found
Description | As the player keeps advancing continents, the continents get larger, but the chance of finding wind shelters stays the same. Based on my experience on two continents (8 and 9) since the changes to city-building: after about 40 secret missions on a continent, a player has found all the bonus structures available to him/her, and by this time, usually has found as many basic structures as he/she would ever want (roughly 4 of each, with some discrepancies based on RNG). But, by this time, the player has only found 4-5 wind shelters and 3-4 ocean buoys. This is roughly half as many wind shelters as are needed on these size continents. A player can return to previous secret mission sites rather quickly to check them for new missions: but the vast majority of these missions are for basic structures that are no longer desired; resulting in a large amount of time spent running around looking for secret missions that give wind shelters with no/low return on investment in that time. Consciousness shards can be used to purchase the remaining wind shelters needed, but after 40'ish secret missions, a player will have gained about 40k consciousness shards; enough for roughly 4 wind shelters. For continent 8, this was roughly breaking even with number of wind shelters needed versus able to be purchased. For continent 9, this was less consciousness shards found than were needed to purchase the remaining wind shelters. While this might be acceptable by itself, this setup also means that if the RNG is poor to the player in any different way: such as not giving the player any "Seek Survivor" scrolls; very few 'rescue survivor' missions; or low number of 'gifts' in cache sites; then the player will have to farm consciousness shards or continue searching mission sites (which will still have a low return on time invested due to the prevalence of basic structures) in order to get the needed number of wind shelters. One way to make this a smoother experience for play on later continents is if the chance of a wind shelter being a secret mission reward scaled with continent size. I do have concerns that this type of change wouldn't be sustainable or enjoyable in much, much later continents where all you might find would be wind shelters (aka, the wind shelters could become TOO common with this change in much later continents). A better alternative would be that wind shelters (and ocean buoys, and "Seek survivor" scrolls, etc) should have a larger chance to be secret mission rewards after all bonus structures have been found on a continent. Have them "take over" the chance that used to be devoted to bonus structures, in effect. Enough with the basic structures already. I don't need another +5 to aquaurgy.
