Summary0008813: Hide already-equipped Utility Spells in the Crafting Menu
DescriptionOpening the 'spells you can craft' menu can be kind of overwhelming; ideally the less seen, the better. I don't need to see that I can craft another Light Snake, when I already have one and it's not going to be leveled at all.

There are a couple different ways already-crafted, already-equipped utility spells could be hidden:
* a check box in the 'spells you can craft' menu that says 'hide utility spells that are already equipped'.
* Put already-equipped utility spells in a new crafting menu, aptly named "already-equipped utility spells".
* Simply disable already-crafted utility spells from showing up in the 'spells you can craft' menu; if the player drops, gives away or otherwise loses a utility spell (which should be unlikely), then the utility spell will reappear in the crafting menu.
* Another way? If anyone can think of one, please suggest it.

How about a slightly expanded idea:
1) A line that says "You already have this spell" in the description box of every spell that you already have. But not if you have a lower level of the spell than what is craftable.
2) An additional layer of menus after 'spells you can craft':
  'Spells you can craft'
    - 'Offensive spells': List of all offensive spells
    - 'Utility spells': List of all utility spells

Edit: Changed 'tier' to 'level' when referring to spells.

1) Convenient, but doesn't reduce the amount of clutter that comes from seeing a whole bunch of spells, some of which I already know and some that I don't. Maybe this, plus placing all of the known spells at the end of the spell list.
(I like how 'you already have this spell' would apply to both having the latest level of an attack spell, and to having the levelless utility spells.)

2) This is another way to do it. I find that being able to see everything on one screen is convenient, though.

Being able to see everything on one screen is convenient, however the only time I need to, and want to, see utility spells is right after I unlock a new one and I want to craft it. Any other time, it is just clutter.

Would placing known spells at the end of the list make it harder to find any specific spell? Since there will no longer be a standard location for each spell. How often do we need to locate specific spells?

Would it also help to make the background for known spells a darker shade?

What about a button or checkbox to toggle between "Showing all craftable spells" "Showing craftable spells not obtained", with a noticeable red "You already have this spell in your inventory" on the all-spells view.

This could turn off all of those from showing up, unless you want to, and when you do want to, reminding you that you have it, and crafting it would be a duplicate. (As well as a reminder on the spell craft ingredients/confirm "[Name and level] is already in your inventory. Crafting this will make a duplicate of the spell."

This combines the two ideas together. Choosing when you want it, removing clutter when you don't want it, and reminding you that you already have it when you turn on showing them.

I think any of these ideas could work, including a combination of them; I would personally leave it up to the developers' preferences at this point. To summarize:

1) Some kind of a visual warning - red text saying 'you already have this spell'; greying out spells you already have.

2) Relocating already-held spells to the end of the list

3) A checkbox that said 'hide already-held spellgems'. Note that even if a new player were to accidentally check this and not realize it's there, it would likely cause very little trouble for them: rarely does a player want to craft a spell they already have.

x) Note: I'm leaning towards the idea that not only already-held utility spellgems should be hidden/warning'd/moved/etc, but also already-held levelling spells.
Example for levelling spells: as long as I'm level 7 and hold a level 7 fireball spellgem, Fireball won't show up/will have a warning/etc in my crafting menu. Once I hit Level 8, the crafting menu will stop checking to see if I have a level 7 fireball, and will start checking to see if I have a level 8 fireball spellgem.
