Summary | 0008710: Combining enchants (Crafting)
Description | Sort of like guided crafting or guided RNG. Enchantment A and B have 3 mods each. Enchantment A has 1 mod that you want, Enchantment B has 2 mods that you want, merging both would give you Enchantment C with 3 mods randomly chosen from A and B. Could add the ability to "hold" specific mods. Benefits: Adds value to otherwise undesirable loot and possible trading. Code could be reused for spell fusion or uh... character... fusion. Could even make it Lamarckian - Lamarckism is terrible for real life, but great for RPGs ("I come from a long line of water magic users!") - gives your previous character's life a bit of meaning. Current system has your character gaining no skill whatsoever and everything transfers through gear. Mash the reroll button! Disadvantages: May cause gear stagnation once the "Best possible mod combination" has been achieved (note that this can happen now, it's just less likely to because of RNG - and people are actually far less likely to pay attention to loot without mods they want on it). Considerations: Rather than worrying about people finding "one best build" it's sometimes better to encourage altitis ("reroll to try something neat and different"). Unfortunately, this involves a modicum of mutual exclusion, but there's too little opportunity cost in AVWW as is. People still feel a bit generic. With online multiplayer, everyone likes to feel a little special.
