Summary | 0008679: Give Summoned Tornado the ability to damage background objects
Description | Summoned Tornado's usefulness is kinda limited at the moment; the thing has good mobility and unlike the rhinos will stay within a certain area, and the knockback can be useful, but the spell could be better than it is. An idea is to give it the ability to damage/break background objects. This could have many uses; it could be used to clear out Stinging Nettles, or knock down a bunch of trees for gathering. It could also be used as a weapon against things like the Dread Gazebos, or those horrible Lions, both of which are dangerous enough to warrant picking up a spell specifically to combat them. You could perhaps have it so it doesnt do damage to anything that's NOT a background object. So, smacking robots with it, would only swat them into the air as it usually does. But having it roll through a Gazebo, it could do constant damage as long as it is in contact with it. Damage level shouldnt be TOO high, but enough to make a difference (and enough to smash simple things like the trees and whatnot). I think something like this would make this spell much more desirable than it currently is.

This feels more like it should be a modifier rather than an outright change to the spell, to be honest. I'm thinking it'd be something for all summons and short range spells (that don't already damage background objects), and would probably be something like "Can Deal <x>% Of Original Damage To Background Objects". That said, Summon Tornado sounds like the sort of spell that should do more. Background damage isn't really what I first think of for tornadoes though; I tend to think more of it flinging things around. To that end, why not have it re-aim cleaving enemy projectiles in a random direction when they hit it? (They'd still do damage to it, but the interference would add another defensive use to it.) |
