Summary | 0008666: Time Period Specific Items
Description | * These items would require you to be of their time period, or have a survivor of the time period; the effects are different depending on which you have. (Being from the time period overrules having a survivor in your settlement of the top period.) [Fluff-wise, this is a case of needing to be from the time period to know how to use the item properly; if you are not but have a survivor that can advise you, you can still use the item but not as effectively.] * These items would only be found in stash rooms, and each would only appear in their own time period. * The items are intended to add a reason to try new time period characters (when you have a stockpile of particular items), and to add some importance to the time period of settlement survivors. The items are:- * Primordial Potion (Wild Garden Age) o If you are from the Wild Garden Age: +20% attack strength for 10 minutes o If you are not from the Wild Garden Age but have a survivor in your settlement that is: +5% attack strength and you can see in the dark on this continent for 5 minutes. * Wind Icon (Bronze Age) o If you are from the Bronze Age: +75 Movement Speed, Powerslide Ability and the slowdown of Powersliding is reduced by 75% for 10 minutes o If you are not from the Bronze Age but have a survivor in your settlement that is: +50% Movement Speed on this continent for 5 minutes * Arcane Vessel (Time Of Magic) o If you are from the Time Of Magic: +20% Mana Regen and +30 Mana for 10 minutes o If you are not from the Time Of Magic but have a survivor in your settlement that is: +10% Mana Regen and +10 Mana on this continent for 5 minutes * Helm Of Protection (Medieval Age) o If you are from the Medieval Age: +20% melee ward (body) and +75 anti-knockback for 10 minutes o If you are not from the Medieval Age but have a survivor in your settlement that is: +10% melee ward (armor) and +25 anti-knockback on this continent for 5 minutes * Magic Feather (Pre Industrial Age) o If you are from the Pre Industrial Age: +20% Movement Speed and +20% Jump Height for 10 minutes o If you are not from the Pre Industrial Age but have a survivor in your settlement that is: +10% Jump Height and you float down and do not take fall damage on this continent for 5 minutes * Clockwork Eye (Industrial Age) o If you are from the Industrial Age: +1 dungeon scouting, and side links will show you their destination on the minimap without needing to explore the room first for 10 minutes o If you are not from the Industrial Age but have a survivor in your settlement that is: +1 dungeon scouting and enemies are visible on the minimap on this continent for 5 minutes * Upgrade Manual (Contemporary Age) o If you are from the Contemporary Age: Increases the effective value of your highest health / attack / mana enchant category by 2 for 10 minutes o If you are not from the Contemporary Age but have a survivor in your settlement that is: Increases the effective value of your highest health / attack / mana enchant category by 1 on this continent for 5 minutes (In the case of a tie for highest category, a random category is chosen from the tied categories.) * Temperature Regulator (Ice Age) o If you are from the Ice Age: +20% resistance to water and fire, and slowing effects are 75% less effective on you for 10 minutes o If you are not from the Ice Age but have a survivor in your settlement that is: +10% resistance to water and fire, and slowing effects are 25% less effective on you on this continent for 5 minutes * Armored Shell (Time After People) o If you are from the Time After People: +75 anti-knockback and +20% damage reduction for 10 minutes o If you are not from the Time After People but have a survivor in your settlement that is: Slow run, low jump, can't use jump enchants, +75 anti-knockback and +20% damage reduction on this continent for 5 minutes

I really like the concept of time period specific things - but I don't like the idea of 10 minute / 5 minute buffs. They remind me of the guardian power buffs, which look like they're being phased out, or at least tweaked. As said on http://arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AVWW_-_Post-Launch_Series_2_Release_Notes (just under 'New Citybuilding System, Part 1'): "Previously, there were 51 guardian powers that gave "continent wide buffs." These were never all that popular with players, or that clear on how to be used; even after we extended the time that the buff would last, these were kind of a "meh" feature. These have therefore been removed." Maybe each era could have its own spell, armor, enchant, or something else? Maybe each era could have a small assortment of these things to choose from? (eg: maybe an industrial-era character would have to choose between goggles that gave them an additional +1 to room scouting, or goggles that revealed the elemental resistance of enemies on the map). |
