Summary | 0008459: Settlement NPC behaviors
Description | Add the ability for NPCs to respond to their environment, and interact with each other, rather than just running back and forth. Would help immersion. It would also give players a reason to bring back objects, and open up new possibilities for crafting, greater array of materials to gather, etc. If you crafted a fire pit, NPCs might stand or sit around it, they could stand in groups as if they were speaking, use magic to construct objects you have brought materials back for (depending on their profession). This would also make it easier to do glyph transplants, as they would be more stationary, yet retain a feeling of life and realism.

Additional thought: It would make sense for NPC's to try and stay near the vicinity of their personality / profession buildings as well; I'd suggest that each NPC tries to stay near a personality building if it has one, else they go near their profession building (or the residential tower if you don't have their profession building yet either). If they have both personality buildings, they hang around the last one built. |
