Summary0008216: NPC eras?
DescriptionThere are Unlockables for rescuing specific types of NPCs. The text for these Unlockables (usually) state what era the NPC can be found in. If, however, there is any information in the game that tells me how to interpret that information, I haven't found it. What is "(3rd A)"? Or "(30th M)"? Or "Wild Garden Age (???)"?

Presumably, the thing in parenthesis is the time period of that age. I believe the number refers to the Century the time period is in.

an "A" means "Ancient Era", and "M" means "Modern Era"

Everything with an "A" is in the time period before year 0, and everything with an "M" takes place after year 0. So "Industrial Revolution (5th M)" means the the year 500, and "Time of Magic (3th A)" means.... year -300.

"Year 0" is when history moved into the "Modern Era". I am not sure what happened at this point in history that made it significant however.

There is a timeline in the manual, and it explains it a bit better.

In any case, you can find out what time period any particular region is by entering it, and then checking the 'esc' menu. This will let you figure out where to find specific NPCs.

Manual? If there's an electronic manual anywhere, it is also not obvious to me.

I hadn't noticed that info in the Esc menu before. It's a huge wall of text, most of which is rarely relevant, so I got out of the habit of reading it.

If this information is in the game, and not meant to be hidden or anything, then perhaps the Unlockable text could give clearer directions about where to find these people, at least when moused over.

Check the game's install directory
Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/a valley without wind/

There should be a pdf called AVWWManual.pdf

Note: Not all the information in the manual is correct, since many game elements have been rehauled and completely changed since it was made...

Thanks!

* When clicking to see the details of the "Rescue NPC" unlockables, the game now lists specifically which region types are associated with that time period.
