Summary | 0007910: Make buildings and guardian powers more useful
Description | My first post here (0007888) I made some suggestions but being new I didnt knew it was supposed to be one ticket per suggestion, I deeply apologize for that. Since tigersfan requested, I am making a ticket for each suggestion and I warn again, I am not a very good player (usually play adept and rarely hero) so veterans will probably feel wary about this, so maybe they should only be valid in lower difficulties. Right now, the only thing I aim for is to be able to summon a windmill. I bet guardian powers are probably crucial on the higher difficulties settings, but they are useless on the default or hero settings (unless its for overlord). I suggest that buildings give a permanent stackable bonus (something like 1% to a specific power depending on the building. Lumbermancy buildings gives +1% power to earth magic, aquaurgist +1% power to water and so forth) or special gems (mission only) generation after 30+ minutes. Also I suggest to make guardian powers used more often, that once you adquire them, they are infinite, so you dont have to keep doing missions to keep using (but make them cost consciousness shards, something like 800 or so).

I guess this ticket should be closed since one of the updates added bonus to buildings? Although there is still my suggestion on guardian scrolls, is this still being considered? |

I agree that I'd like to see guardian scrolls done a little differently. The 10 minute duration is so short, I find I hardly use them except for critical take-downs. |
The thing is that I'm not sure if any duration of time could be good. As with many games with RPG elements, often times time limited buff usables aren't all that great because a) You're probably better off getting something with a permanent buff (like in this game, enchants) b) You have to remember to use it, and time it right to make it worthwhile where it counts Granted, they can be nice when you have reached the cap of how good your permanent buffs are, or when the magnitude, duration, and ease of getting the limited time buffs are sufficiently high, but that still may not be enough to draw people to it unless they are buffed to OP levels. TBH, I'm not sure what to do. Maybe buffing their duration to 30 minutes could be a nice short term fix. |
Many good points, TechSY730. I'd be happy even with a 20 minute duration, since I feel that would give me adequate time to use the buff without feeling rushed. |
Duration buffs aren't going to solve the problem, since the main problem is knowing when to use them (and remembering to use them), not how long they last after use. A lot of the problem seems to be that by being limited in quantity (and being rare enough to make replacing them not an easy task), you'll hold on to them rather than use them in case you need them later (and so on until the continent's done, or more likely you spam the lot on the overlord.) Rather than making them single use, it could be worth making them so that you can use them once per tier (or requiring a certain number of missions to refresh them). Additional copies of the same scrolls would give you extra uses, so they're still worth picking up; I'd suggest making duplicates rarer though, so you can pick up a full set if you want to without getting too annoyed with certain scrolls not appearing due to the RNG not giving you them. (I'd also suggest making a limit of 1 scroll active at a time, so you can't pile bonuses up too much; maybe make it so you get an extra scroll at a time for each Profession you can use at skill level 5). |
Or just have them only work for one map tile. When you go back to the world map, it expires. |
What if they increased in power with each duplicate, in the same way enchants do? They can still be single use with relatively low duration, but since they grow in power there's a greater incentive to acquire them and actually use them. I'm in the spam-on-overlord-if-I-happen-to-remember-them group. Right now, with the way I play, they just don't really enter the picture much. |
