Summary | 0007888: Suggestions from a newcomer
Description | I am new here so I dont know exactly how to post stuff yet, and if I should make all suggestions in one place or split them, this time I will post a bunch, apologies if its not recommended. ALL of those are based on a "bad" player, I usually play adept (sometimes even featherweight to speed things up, specially when the power went out and I lost 4 hours of progress having to resort to a old backup) and rarely play on the hero difficulty (which makes me die way too much sometimes). So plenty of suggestions are aimed to players who arent as good as most experienced users here probably are, so maybe they should only "work" on a lower difficulty setting. 1 - Make buildings and guardian powers more useful Right now, the only thing I aim for is to be able to summon a windmill. I bet guardian powers are probably crucial on the higher difficulties settings, but they are useless on the default or hero settings (unless its for overlord). I suggest that buildings give a permanent stackable bonus (something like 1% to a specific power depending on the building. Lumbermancy buildings gives +1% power to earth magic, aquaurgist +1% power to water and so forth) or special gems (mission only) generation after 30+ minutes. Also I suggest to make guardian powers used more often, that once you adquire them, they are infinite, so you dont have to keep doing missions to keep using (but make them cost consciousness shards, something like 800 or so). 2 - Less swamps please. After the third continent (I am on continent 5), there is way too much swamp and barely any abandoned town chunk. In fact, on the last two continents there was only ONE abandoned town region, and in BOTH of them there was a Overlord. So it could be a bug. 3 - Rescue missions are much better but.. Once it took me FOUR hours to find a survivor, it was extremely frustrating. Now with the latest patches I can find them more frequently, still I wish the power to cast SEEK SURVIVOR didnt need a specific npc on a specific level (which usually you need to find anyway). Also its kinda hard to rescue a npc with 50-80 health on ocean squares where the monsters have lots of health so they have plenty of time to hit them. 4 - The game was patched alot, tell people on steam about it! AVWW is a great game, and became greater with patches (and will become even better in the future). But it had serious pacing issues that threw alot of people off. Now that there are so many new changes, make a stable version and release on steam, posting the changelog to make everyone (especially people who havent bought it) know how much new stuff this game got and how the level of support on arcen games is great.

About 2, that's the RNG for you. True random number generators are not known for their consistency. That said, there is a pretty decent argument for ensuring that at least one non-overlord, non-lieutenant of each terrain type eligible for that continent number is assured to spawn somewhere on the map. About 4, one of the great thing about Arcen games, as you may have noticed, is a rapid beta release cycle, but each beta tends to be pretty darn stable. One of the downsides of Arcen games is that their stable releases tend to take a really long time. So much time that it is enough to give stable version only players a sometimes wrong impression. AVWW 1.0 to AVWW as it is now is a great example of that (though to be fair, it's only been a few weeks, and there are still several "Release before major release" issues floating around) |

1. This is a possibility, would you mind making a separate ticket about it? 2. That is the RNG. We're not opposed to making adjustments, but, so far this is the first I've heard about that being an issue. I'll keep an ear out for more complaints. 3. That might be a change worth making, you aren't the first to suggest that. 4. We can't possibly push every patch to Steam, obviously. But, we do have plans to make stable patch soon and push it to Steam. Thanks for the support! FYI, for the sake of clarity, I'm going to close this ticket. 1 and 3 are potentially actionable, but if you could make them separate tickets, that would help us keep them more organized. |
