Summary | 0007871: Secret Missions seem less exciting now that CP is gone.
Description | It used to be that secret missions were something I'd go hunting for, to find resources that I wanted without raising the CP. The feeling of obtaining resources without the normal "cost" was exciting, and that, in turn, made the exploration for secret missions exciting. Now that CP is gone, secret missions just feel like world-map missions that are harder to find, and I'm finding little incentive to look for them, or even to do them when I run across them, unless they happen to be offering a resource that isn't around on my world map and I don't have a time-manipulation spell yet. So, my suggestion would be to do one of two things: -Let secret missions give you additional tier orbs beyond the normal cap (up to a second cap) Or, (and this is the one I like more) -Make some mission-only resources very unlikely in map missions but very likely in secret missions.

Making some mission only resources unlikely in map missions but likely in secret missions will only lead to grind as you have to hunt down a secret mission offering what you want, so no. Tier orbs might work, though unless you're playing on a particularly harsh strategic difficulty, they're unlikely to be in particularly limited supply compared to normal ingredients. Secret missions ought to be slightly better, but not in a way that makes them necessary; they should really be optional. I'd suggest making it so that all secret missions have two rewards; on completion, you get to pick one. That way they're more likely to give you something you've been after or really want without preventing you from getting it normally. |

That's a good point, about the grind. I like the idea where you pick your reward. Or perhaps the secret mission rewards could simply be given some new rewards that are just found in secret missions (new buff guardian powers, for instance); things that aren't required to progress in the way resources are, but might make things easier (just as the "free" resources in the old system made you "more prepared", or at least more capable of choice in your preparations) |
