Summary | 0007685: Freefall Mission - plummet down dodging mines, etc.
Description | "A stash has been found down a deep hole. Problem is, the walls are unusually slick, so you can't climb down, and the place is strewn with mines. Here's a freefall suit; dive down and get it." This mission would generate a deep pit, with very little solid ground in it (occasionally 4 - 5 square chunks of land). The pit would contain substantial quantities of mines. The "Freefall Suit" means that you don't take falling damage (even if you're normally unable to gain immunity to falling damage) and a reduction in falling velocity (25 - 60% depending on Platforming Difficulty.) The missions ends when the player opens the stash at the bottom of the pit. There are 3 types of Mine: Turret Mine: On sufficient proximity, it starts firing at the player. The attacks it uses vary by the type of mine, but are all high velocity low cooldown spells. Detonation Mine: On sufficient proximity, it explodes. Which explosion it uses (Explosive Esper, Miasma Missile, etc.) varies by type of mine. Barrier Mine: A "force field" stretched between two nodes. Contact with the field causes damage. What "force field" varies by mine - lightning barriers, laser grids, steam or flame jets, etc. are all viable. In addition, all mines explode should the player contact them directly. The explosive varies by type of mine as Detonation Mine. Barrier Mines only detonate if the nodes are touched, not the field. In addition, the slick walls means that platforms do not anchor to the background; they fall as if you tried to place them on the sky. Finally, addressing double jump / triple jump / ride the lightning etc. : these are allowed. They provide mobility while falling, which is more fun (dodging away from mines by a well times jump, etc.) plus the difficulty reduction they provide is countered by the difficulty increase of trying to get to solid land to recharge your jumps.

Thanks! * This new mission type now opens up as soon as you complete at least one mission. It has two variants, both of which are the same general idea, but which play out pretty substantially differently from one another. * '''Freefall (Building)''' ** A hidden stash has been discovered in a building in this region, but access is blocked by a strange devce at the bottom of an improbably deep pit. The good news is that there's no falling damage and you fall at a reduced rate. The bad news is that the chasm is filled with spiky platforms, floating mines, and flying monsters. * '''Freefall (Underground)''' ** A hidden stash has been discovered in a cave in this region, but access is blocked by a strange devce at the bottom of an improbably deep pit. The good news is that there's no falling damage and you fall at a reduced rate. The bad news is that the chasm is filled with falling rubble, floating mines, and flying monsters. |
