Description | I have all character unlocks at this point(that I know of) and I've got a few bones to pick about the Time After People category. There are always 4-9 choices for this category upon death for me. Out of curiosity I spent a few minutes killing off characters to see if this would lessen upon choosing certain groups consistently and that was not the case. There are never fewer than 4 bots. In fact, seeing less than 6 is a rarity for me. This wouldn't even be a huge problem if they weren't such a lackluster option for my play style. High health is awesome, but low mana pools and the inability to equip high powered jump enchants is not. Built-in tolerance to heat and cold is not a big deal. Suits work for non-robos and they're able to triple jump when not in hot places. If anything I don't see why the small variations of the bots cannot equip the jump enchants. Also, why isn't the time period of the character you're choosing listed? At this point I have a decent understanding of who comes from where, but it's a facet I'd rather not have to memorize. Where the heck is my option to play the Draconites I've saved on multiple occasions as well? Why isn't there a general tip for each time period stating what their general stat make-up/bonuses/penalties are? Why must you discover for yourself robots are too heavy? Why do I have so many questions about something that should be more simple? | ||||

The character selection menu is, I think, the clunkiest menu in the game currently. It's probably the oldest too! My 2 cents: Right now, the character portrait is the most prominent UI element. It takes up a huge portion of the visuals, but it the least important thing (at least, functionally). Practically too, because you're hardly ever going to see this portrait again! I would like to see the actual character on screen, if possible. The stats display is okay as is, because it displays the relevant information in a concise manner, (green is good red is bad). I would like to see more, though. What profession is the character I am taking over? What personality structures do they like? What time period are they from? Also, why does the entire UI element not have a background? I don't need to see the terrain, dimmed in the back. It isn't relevant to me. I am seeing this window because I just died, I'll be in the settlement next, so the terrain isn't useful. Just make it all black if you have to, so I can more easily see this menu. Maybe even make it mesh with all the other menus in the game by having the nice border art and all that jazz. That would look nice, I think. As far as functionality goes I don't like the lack of a confirmation when I click on a portrait. I accidentally choose the wrong character when I forget that clicking on it doesn't bring up another info panel like it does in the settlement resident window. I feel like once I pick a character, I should have an info panel come up telling me the full details. If the selection screen just had basic stats, this advanced info panel would tell me all the info. Personality structures, time period, resistances (I guess?), and also have a text box to rename them if I want. If you're against renaming characters, that's fine, but we can do it anyway by using 2 glyph transfer scrolls, so... why not? I didn't make a mockup of this like I normally would because I feel my mockup would look so ugly you would never implement this feature request, and probably also revoke my license keys. |

You brought up several good points I think I would have liked to hit on myself. I think I was too busy complaining about 50% of my choices always being robots currently. =P |

Maybe the real issue is that skelebots are a really horrible choice? They are cool all of 2 times. When you first get one, you're like "Oh wow a robot this is great!" So you choose a robot next time. Not that ugly pink one, but the tall blue one. Then you realize it's slow as can be, and is tall and can't walk through hallways. Then you go "Okay, so this pink one should be GREAT" except it's pink and you quickly decide to go back to the ice age guy, because his stats are pretty good. |

I think it should be noted that, as per a note on a different mantis, that character selection is probably bugged, you are supposed to get 2 characters from each time period you have unlocked. As to skelebots themselves, I use them when I need high health characters, basically wind shelter missions but that is about it, but I'm not sure I see a problem with that. |

In my opinion, a good change to make skelebots more useful would be acid water immunity, and ignoring the water movement mechanics entirely (Their heaviness allows them to move through the water quickly and fall at a faster rate). As for the character selection screeen, more info is always appreciated and it would be nice to see more variety in what age they are from. |
