Summary | 0007362: Bat form trivializes Journey to Perfection missions.
Description | I've noticed that bat form makes Journey to Perfection missions way too easy. You just turn on bat form, fly straight up to the top of the map, Storm Dash across, then drop down as fast as you can. Yes, missiles are fired, but you travel so much faster than them that you can either dive for the victory spot and trigger it or find an alcove at the edge of the map to hide in when switching back to human form, especially if you have a high powered shield to use. I'm not sure what to do about this, as I know those missiles purpose is to prevent something like this being done. Maybe their flight speed or target acquisition range needs to be buffed? As of right now, one guy on my server has pretty much 100% success with this strategy, and it feels completely counter to the original intent of them.

Thanks! * In addition to Clinging Fetor, now Storm Dash and Ride The Lightning are disallowed in Journey To Perfection missions. ** Storm Dash made it far too easy to game the system while playing as a bat, while Ride The Lightning made it far too easy to kill yourself unintentionally with the anti-air missile launchers. If it still seems out of balance please let us know. |

Hmm, even if we gave them 1000x health there would still be the exploit of dropping a crate in their way so that they explode on impacting the crate. Perhaps what we really need is a series of intermediate goals that the bat has to go down for. |
|
Maybe make it so part of the objective is to clear out the missile towers themselves? There's enough of them that you would be clearing them all the way to the end, so it wouldn't make it so you could clear and then batform the rest of the distance. Since they seem to be background entities, you'd need a whip or fire/death touch to clear them, making it so the bat form couldn't just snipe them from afar. |

Would it be codingly possible to have wind blowing only in the higher reachers of the mission area? I haven't used bat form for ages but if I remember right wind makes it really hard to navigate and avoid enemies, so that would seem to be kind of ideal as long as it wouldn't interfere with players who are close to the ground. It would give you a shot as a bat, but not a particularly easy shot. |
