Summary | 0007347: Add server option to enable enchant progress sharing (again) | ||||
Description | For a small group of friends that always play in the same world, enchant progress sharing was one of our favorite features, and one we've often used as a selling point to encourage other people to play. I realize certain players don't want this and that in a large group it can break progression rates. However, there's no reason it can't be a server option that defaults to off to support groups that want to keep their progression in sync without being forced to stay in the same chunk at all times. Restricting the distance to something more flexible - such as the same building or region - would keep enchant sharing an active process without tethering players too tightly together. The current system is inconsistent. Resource loot is shared by everyone via the town. Upgrade stone are not shared but persist on the map so everyone can pick them up individually. Then enchant loot does not persist and is not shared. The result is my group's interest in playing has lessened because it is a hassle to keep everyone in sync for shared enchant progress. | ||||

For 1.007: * New admin command: set_worldwide_enchant_progress_sharing ** Syntax to turn it off (defaults off): cmd:set_worldwide_enchant_progress_sharing 0 ** Syntax to turn it on: cmd:set_worldwide_enchant_progress_sharing 1 ** When it is on, enchant progress is done normally. ** When it is on, when someone gains enchant points all player accounts on the server (connected or not) get those enchant points and check for enchant generation. *** These gains have no impact on player accounts that are created later. ** Basically this just makes MP easier, and there's no attempt to balance it, it's simply provided as a courtesy to those MP groups who specifically want the shared-enchant-progress mechanic (it used to be similar to this, but was changed). ** Thanks to Tyrain for pointing out that some groups really do like the shared progress in MP.
