Summary | 0007222: Warp malfunction
Description | With the somewhat new (and awesome) function of warp gates to actually function as a door, for those players who choose to use one as such, this allows for an interesting twist. Every once in a long while, a warp gate could malfunction and teleport the player somewhere besides the warp room. I came up with a list of places that could work, but fortunately with how this is supposed to be an interested random event, they aren't mutually exclusive. They could ALL be used in the pool of "where could this warp gate take you?" - A warp room with strange enemies in it (microboss?) - High in the air of the chunk the user was attempting to warp out of - A different warp gate in the same world map region - A different warp gate in a different world map region - A few levels down in the current underground dungeon (if currently in an underground dungeon... or not!) - Back to the settlement - Into the a lieutenant/ the overlord's boss room - A random destroyed room in a nearby building - To a stash room of a nearby building - To ANY room of a nearby building? - If in multiplayer, to another player's location If you expand the possibilities for events beyond teleportation, you could throw in a few others, for flavor. - Sets the player on fire - Damages the player for half of his current life - Surrounds the player with health orbs - Turns the player into a bat - Miniaturizes the player This sort of thing could add a fun element of discovery that would not be actively pursuable, thereby making it passively discovered as time goes on. As long as the chance to malfunction was low enough (and presumably it would only happen on the first time a warp room was entered, preventing it from being manipulated by entering/exiting a single room over and over), it would be a lingering discovery event.
