Summary | 0000711: Contradiction with guardians and turrets
Description | First we received some buffs to turrets because of guardians were introduced - but all guardians are expert turret killers which means that turrets are useless as defense against them.

Well, I should have been a bit more clear -- the buff to turrets was so that the turrets could do without your fleet ships better when you're on offense. But the guardians are meant to be expert counter-attackers, so you still have a risk/reward dynamic on there. We don't want players to be able to just have their entire fleet out in one big blob, ever, without serious risk to their defenses. I don't claim that the relationships and balance are perfect at the moment, but this part is conceptually as intended. In short, the buff to turrets was for fighting off starships, waves, and the other non-guardian stuff, whereas the guardians are particularly siege-breaking type ships. |
