Summary0006713: Frame rate drop when boss monster dies
DescriptionI've noticed since the last patch that most of the time when I kill a boss monster and the shards release, that my frame rate dips. From what I can tell it drops to about 10 to 15 FPS until the shards are picked up. It's really uncommon for me to see frame rate drops in any game since I'm running an GeForce GTX 560. I'll get you some video of it next time it happens.

It's okay, videos are really not needed; we don't really look at them unless we can't tell from your written report. If we need added details, we'll generally go for a save or something, unless the video shows a behavior that we simply can't replicate or understand or something. But that's exceedingly rare.

Thanks for the report!

It's no problem, I'm just glad I can help in the debugging process ^^

I'll just note that this happens to me as well. (Radeon HD 5700) And it seems to be more problematic when there's a tiny clumped up cloud of shards, like the faeries drop, vs a big spread out cloud like larger bosses drop. Are the shards trying to do some kind of collision avoidance with each other?

I've noticed it happens most frequently with huge shadow bats.

Bob has a good point. I notice a lot of slowdown in general when lots of objects are touching/near each other:

- Massive number of overlapping shards from bosses like fairies and shadow bats.
- Groups of 30+ Whale Spawn (should be renamed Piranha IMO) bumping into each other in their feeding frenzy.

It sounds like what happens when too many objects are overlapping in a collision test group when N^2 gets absurdly large.
