Summary | 0006589: Search instead of destroying
Description | Hi there, I'm not sure whether it has been reported in the past. I did a search but didn't found anything convincing. This is very minor though. It took me a while before I started to understand that what I was searching (as a component to make a new spell) was instead right there, inside some crates, or some picnic bag... The time to understand, and I already am tier 3, with spells of tier 1. When I understood that I had to destroy the picnic stuff, I said "haha, there they are !" My suggestion on this purpose could be done in many different ways. Here are two possibilities I thought of. There are probably more. - simply add some indication inside the tutorial section that some stuff are contained inside the picnic bags. Like that, the player knows that it's normal to destroy to get the stuff out of it. - another possibility is to somehow, when in front of a picnic bag, transform the animation to a "search animation", so that it's obvious for the player he is searching inside the box. Once again, it's minor, but it could have helped me if I had those information right from the start (or have a search animation). Thanks for listening :-) Vampyre

Picnic...bags? In terms of the game telling you how to find the common components, it does so in numerous ways, however: 1. In the tutorial, in at least 3 places. 2. In the planning menu, when you are looking to discover where a resource is found. 3. In the crafting menu, any time you hover over a material cost for a spell. There's not really anything more we could possibly add than that. |
I suppose you might use a context sensitive mouse cursor, which took on a resource gathering aspect when you hovered over a destructible object which was eligible to give you resources. |
The issue there is that that implies you can harvest it there and then, whether you actually have a spell that can damage background entities or not. |
Not to mention, we want there to be some element of discovery. This seems to be an isolated case of someone on a different wavelength from the game; that will inevitably happen, there's no way to catch all of those instances. The trick is to minimize the instances, and I think we've already done everything reasonable for that on this specific issue. |
