Summary0000650: weapons fired are invisible at a critical zoom level, and definitely invisible at maximum zoom
DescriptionTo reproduce, zoom all the way out, and engage your ships with some enemy. Slowly, zoom in, and watch the weapons magically appear at a certain critical point ( they don't scale up in size, they just appear or not appear).

I think that weapons should always appear, just like the old engine, that's part of the fun. It's a major part of the fun, is seeing space battles.

They certainly scale up in size for me... From just minor dots to full-fledged shots. They do disappear a short bit before you hit furthest zoom though.

If you look at the second screenshot, there is an exciting battle. If you look at the bottom screenshot, you wouldn't know anyone was fighting unless you have the sound on. And in the top screenshot, you can see that certain weapon types are more visible than others... I noticed that certain weapons disappear before others.

I added two more screenshots that really highlight the issue! Look at the subtle difference in zooming, the shell ammo just magically appears.

Personally I'm guessing it's just a result of how the engine handles images. The further out you zoom, the smaller they become, until they're simply too small to draw. I even went as far as altering one of the images to be four times as big, and that made those shots appear at even the furthest zoom.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still love to be able to see normal shots at furthest zoom.

Toll, did you look at the last two screenshots? The difference in zoom between them is barely noticeable at all, but the weapons are completely gone in one of them.

Definitely needs at least an option for 'always show bullets at high zoom', mostly because you lose a LOT of situational awareness by zooming out.. when the opposite should be happening.

As good as it's likely to get anytime soon, there's only so much that can be done at the very furthest zooms, by nature:

* Previously, the max zoom level was determined based on the screen resolution. Changed to be resolution-independent.

* The zoom distance at which shots are drawn has been increased.
