Summary | 0006468: Wave pre-info missing
Description | I started with the new update, and love the new wave info hover-text. However, an issue occured. The wave info now fails, giving a minimum sized window, no info, and an error in the top right hand corner. Save attached.

yeah already talked to Keith about this. He should be looking into it whenever he got some time on his hands. I forgot to post forward it to mantis though lol |

I'm finding it impossible to make this happen for me despite running a game for hours and having a lot of waves come with the buy-type window in various states (closed, open-for-ship-placement, open-for-buy-button-mouseover, etc). I've looked at the code and there's an extra precaution I can take in general but I have no reason to believe it will actually fix the bug, so if anyone out there can give me an actual reproducible case, or more concrete info on what exactly they were doing when the error happened, that would be very helpful :) |
Just as a wild theory, have you tried starting the game fresh, loading a game with an incoming wave, and the first thing you do is to mouse over the ship name in the wave, before you mouse over any other ship type? Just a crazy idea. |
strange that you can't duplicate it. It happens so very common in my games, both solo and multiplayer. Sometimes it's working the way it should, but most of the times it's giving the error. It could be my imagination but I think I've seen the same error once when I completed building a spire city hub. It could be that it coincidentally happened the same time a wave warning popped up though, I don't remember. Let me start a game without Fallen spire enabled and see if it makes any difference, just to be sure. probably not, but it won't hurt to check. edit: started a new game and still get the error. wave of infiltrators this time. |
Can you start that exact same game again, save it after starting up, and see if you get the error on the first wave again? If so, load the save, and see if it gives the error on the first wave yet again? If so, attach the save so I can try it :) |
Could it be only for games created a few versions before? I am also having a similar problem with a game that I've been playing off and on for over a year. |
I think I found it. started a few games with the exact same settings to test... at first I thought it had something to do with certain ship types displaying wrong, but I've seen missile frigate waves both right and wrong. same for laser gatlings. then something odd happened... very odd... Incoming wave, info displayed right. I started building something, info gone and error appears. building turrets seem safe, and so does unlocking new tech. But building fleet ships and science labs for example causes the error. uploaded the test save. A save mere seconds before the first wave. |

You did indeed find it! For 5.030: * Fixed a bug in the wave-mouseover-to-show-ship-info feature in the last version that would display a blank info window and throw some (thankfully harmless) errors if the ship-type-info window had last been used to display an unlocked ship type with a "(x out of y in service)" addendum (like from mouseovering the buy queue items on a space dock). Thanks very much :) |
