|Summary||0006211: Make most base ship caps a multiple of 8 to fix ultra-low ship cap rounding errors skewing balance|
|Description||With the introduction of the ultra-low ship caps, an interesting problem has occurred.|
Many of the base ship caps (ship caps on "high caps") are not a multiple of 8.
This means on ultra-low ship caps (which has 1/8 the cap of high caps), rounding error starts to become an issue. And as it has been shown on the forums, these rounding errors are actually enough to start making a difference.
So to fix this, most if not all ships caps that scale with the global caps should be a multiple of 8, in order to avoid this issue.
I don't think most of the ships need a change in stats, as in the worst case, 3 will be added or removed to the base ship cap (if it is 4 or more to go up to the nearest higher multiple of 8, then it would be better to go 3 or less down to the nearest lower multiple of 8, and vice versa), cap DPS and cap cost won't change all that much.
Though you may want to fiddle with stats for some of the lowish ship cap ships (like munition boosters, Z elec bombers, Z bombards) you may want to fiddle with DPS, as with lowish ship cap ships, even one more or less to their ship cap can cause a noticeable change to their cap DPS and cost.
I'm not the first to notice this, but I can't remember or find the one who did. If you can find that guy, he should be credited for this.
