| Description | I like to build things in quantities of 5x or 10x at a time. Currently, building things like this results in a sort of "splash" of random positions of buildings, but the buildings certainly aren't packed nicely together in any kind of orderly fashion. It doesn't really matter most of the time, but can make a difference if you want lots of things to be underneath a shield, or a bunch of mines tightly packed in a chokepoint (such as outside a wormhole) An improvement would be two things: 1) When building things 5x or 10x at a time, they're all nicely in a row, or in a couple of rows, packed really tightly together, in a predictable (instead of random) pattern. 2) You can see the pattern it's going to place while holding down ctrl- or alt-, so it's easy to lay down a ton of buildings tightly packed together. This way when I need a certain kind of structure packed tightly together (like manufactories, or mines, etc.), it isn't a manual chore. | ||||

Probably a better way to do this would be to let us box the area for placement, with silhouettes appearing to show where each unit will be built, and a count in the bottom right corner giving the total number to be built. |

There could also be an option such that: if the click-point for placing multiple buildings is inside the radius of a force field, all buildings in the clump would be placed inside the force field radius as well. |
