Summary | 0005556: UI for equipping spells gets in the way.
Description | The UI for equipping spells gets in the way of seeing which spells can actually be equipped. * The large box full of spell information that following the mouse cursor around obscures the list of spells available. Not really that big a deal, because you can move the mouse out of the way and see the whole list, but it's a bit annoying. * Also, having this move around while I'm trying to read it is a bit disconcerting. (I tend to unconsciously move my mouse around while I read stuff, and that isn't really possible with this. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but still.) * The "Successfully Equipped <whatever>" notification obscures part of the screen when it announces which spell you've just equipped. This notification is different from all the others I've seen in the game recently, and I don't think equipping a spell is different enough to warrant that. Again, not really a big deal. Perhaps having a panel in the UI that shows the spell information instead of gluing it to the mouse cursor would be a better idea. It'll take up more screen space, but I think that's offset by it being more comfortable to read. Equippage notifications could probably go in there as well, or something. (I should note at this point that I'm a really awful GUI designer. I can usually explain why I find something hard or uncomfortable to use, but I'm not very good at coming up with something better. Please treat my suggestions with appropriate caution.)

Except on really large screens, there's not actually room to do what you're describing. However, on screens large enough to put the tooltip at the bottom instead of by the mouse, we might try doing that. |
