Description | I think the shields as they are now are fairly underpowered and abusable. These are the problems I see with them: * They cost no mana to cast and have no shield cooldown, meaning you can deactivate and reactivate a shield to instantly regain its HP * They do not regenerate HP * They have a trivial 25% element resistance * They have a very high mana/sec cost. The current system encourages using shields as a reflex-based "blocking" system whereby you activate a shield just as a group of bullets are about to hit you and deactivate it immediately after (if it didn't collapse). The resistance % is so low that it's not worth the time to get multiple elemental shields. My suggestion is to make shields more of a protective barrier than a quick-block spell. These are the changes I suggest: * Give the shields a high initial mana cost and a low mana/sec cost (e.g. 50/sec) when at full HP * Give the shields the ability to automatically regenerate HP and spend a lot of mana doing so (perhaps 5% HP/sec with the old mana cost/sec when regenerating) * If you run out of mana while the shield is regenerating, don't deactivate the shield, instead adjust the shield's HP regen rate so it's regenerating using your mana regen. * Give the shields a higher % resist or increase the % resist on each tier, e.g. from 25% at T1 up to 80% at T5. * Activate a global shield cooldown when the shield is deactivated. I haven't given any specific numbers because I'm not very good at balancing things numerically but I'm sure you can balance it out better than I can. | ||||
