Description | Maybe one of those gravestones is sufficient. A first time player may not see the brief 'enter' notice that comes up when running past -- the building may turn into part of the background. Especially since there isn't an obvious entrypoint (compared to the doors inside buildings). | ||||

Initially I was all for this one, but I realized I don't want to hold the hand of the players too much -- rather, it's meant for them to figure out as much as they seem able to. The deciding factors, for me: 1. There is very little terrain for the players to explore, even if they do miss the building. In fact, missing the building, seeing the obstacle, and coming back to find supplies to beat the obstacle would be quite a nice progression for those who do it. 2. At Minecon I don't think many people got stuck on this, and that was a pretty sizable sample size. But regardless, if someone gets stuck for a little while, I think that's okay given that adventure games are about exploring your environment and overcoming obstacles. If they ragequit every time they run into any obstacle at all, this probably isn't the game for them and the intro mission is doing a good job of showing them that. I don't want customers who don't really like the product on offer. |
