Summary | 0005344: Tips Errata
Description | Some tips could use modification, at least for the current version: Tip 2 "On the planetary view, pressing 'd' cycles through your space docks or starship constructors, pressing 'b' brings up the build menu and 's' selects any science vessels. This means you don't have to find those buildings." 's' for Science Lab selection is probably superceded by the both the new Ctrl+'t' (select a Lab from anywhere in the galaxy) and Ctrl+'s' (select all Labs on the planet). Tip 5 "In a multiplayer game, you can gift fabricators to share them around the team." Obsolete with the existence of Fabricator Foldouts. Tip 6 "If you put two or more force fields over a key asset (e.g. your home command station), you can repair one while the other is being shot up, buying you the time you need for your fleet to come back and rescue it in an emergency." Obsolete as of 5.015, since forcefields under other forcefields are now essentially irreparable while combat is going on. Tip 8 "Hitting Ctrl+'l' selects 1/3 of the number of ships. Thus, combined with regular 'l,' which selects 1/2, you can make 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6, 1/8, 1/9... etc." The shortcut appears to be Shift+'l' instead of Ctrl+'l'. Tip 56 "Unlike many RTS games, cloaking does not hide the existence of a ship, only its location and its identity. Thus do not be surprised if the AI reacts to one of your cloaked ships on their planet even if they never decloaked it. This works both ways, though: cloaked AI ships also appear in your intel." Cloaking doesn't hide identity (any more?) currently.
