Summary0005273: Ruins/landmarks appear on the main map screen.
DescriptionI was thinking it would be nice to have certain really big major ruins appear on the main map screen (like with settlements and overlord keeps).

Not only would you clear them to find relics/gem stones and other items but also claim them in the name of your civilization. Npcs wouldn't live in these ruins but there could be an impact on some kind of "culture" score that having historical ruins in a close radius to your settlements would bring and affect the lives of its npcs in a positive way. (also I think it would be really neat to have some prominent ruins appear on the main map as icons, sort of like they're saying "look at me I'm really important and mysterious, I matter to the world")

Another idea is to have landmarks, these would be region tiles that have something that might be beautiful or unusual. Like a really large waterfall, some kind of mystical clearing in a forest or a small cavern with tons of different coloured crystals sticking out of the wall) I suppose npcs could occasionally go on "pilgramages" to these landmarks and every day there might be a chance to meet npcs you wouldn't meet elsewhere depending on the type of landmark it is. (What these npcs would do, I haven't thought about...but there's potential there)

You could have missions pop up that relate to these cleared and claimed locations. (Like a group of monsters are plotting to destroy a landmark that the nearby settlers hold very dear to them)

You could possibly rename ruins/landmarks after you have claimed them. If you want to make some kind of roleplay world. (or just to have a little more creative freedom of your world) Just a thought.

I hope I got the idea across well. I just think it would be really cool from a setting/world map point of view to have these prominent locations like ruins/temples and landmarks that appear on the main map. I'd bet there's potential for a lot of gameplay (like quests) sides to this too.
