| Description | I have a pretty slow (and, worse, irregular) connection --- at bad times it can take me upward of five minutes to download an update. Especially when I don't play for a while and a few updates come out, this means I have to spend an awfully long time downloading them, which is fairly annoying when I have to have the game open and can't alt-tab out. Anyway, I know that I have kind of an extreme situation (I live in China, so updates are coming through the Great Firewall), but it would make my life a lot easier if I could download the file using my web browser or the external auto-update program. It seems that now the only thing I could do is to redownload the whole game, which would take an age. | ||||

Actually, don't re-download the game, as we don't really update the downloaders that often, so it's likely that you would get an OLDER version by doing that. As for the rest of it, I'm not sure how Chris would feel about updating a web page nearly every day, but, I'll mark it as a suggestion. |

Actually, you can download the xml file that the game itself uses to get the updates, and that gives you the list of zip files: http://avww.s3.amazonaws.com/AVWWUpdatesList.xml Just unzip them into your AVWW folder in ascending order (oldest ones first, then newer ones), overwriting any duplicate files each time, and you're all set! You can do the same with AI War, actually. |
