Summary | 0005233: Indicate on the dungeon map where possible unscouted map nodes might be
Description | At the moment when quickly scanning through the dungeon map of building to look for stash rooms it isn't immediately apparent if I missed possible branches of the building. An indicator above unvisited rooms(or below for caves) that may potentially lead to more rooms would be handy. To further elaborate I don't mean showing the players anything they couldn't have figured out on their own based on the game rules. For instance if I'm in a room and there is a connected room that has no connected rooms beyond it I can safely tell that it is a dead end as the game lets you scout two rooms deep. Similarly if that connected room were only connected to destroyed rooms I'd know it's a dead end path with no more rooms to scout because scout-able rooms aren't beyond destroyed rooms. However if there are normal rooms scouted out 2 levels deep then there are possibly more rooms behind them. It'd be useful if the game indicated this somehow like say with question marks above those rooms that could lead to more even if they actually don't. If further scouting reveals that there couldn't be more rooms past them then the map would automatically clear the marks. The only complicating issue is the side links that lead beyond the destroyed rooms which could be solved by coloring the connection line differently if the destination room hasn't been scouted yet.

Honestly, I'm a bit confused about this. You have the percentages on top that tell you how much you've been to and how much you've scouted. Furthermore, the map moves to the right, so the deepest in rooms will be to the right of the map. What further information are you looking for? |
|
When being methodical about the search pattern in a building and searching from left to right it's not too hard to hit everything, but if you miss a branch and explore most the area it becomes less apparent where there is more to scout. In the caves it can be even easier to miss a branch if you jump around a lot with the side links trying to avoid boss nodes. You can of course figure out where possible new nodes are yourself by making sure there are never unvisited rooms more than two deep away from a visited room. It's not difficult but some indicator would make it easy to just take a quick glance and figure out the possible places to look for remaining map nodes. Or instead of an icon indicator if something less obtrusive would be better maybe just color the edge of the node next to possible scout locations a different color or leave the side open? |

Are you aware that the dungeon map already shows you which rooms have been visited? There is a line towards the bottom of each rectangle that disappears when you've visited the room. Is that the kind of thing you were wanting? |
|
Yep I'm aware of that but it isn't always clear which rooms to visit to scout further into a building/cave. After running down a few long branches it's easy to miss smaller offshoots and after scouting most the area it's not always immediately apparent where the last or last few nodes are behind. I need to be off now but I'll get some screenshots later to show what I'm getting at. |
