Summary0005118: Add a glow to regions that have appeared in the last 5-10 level ups.
DescriptionWhen the tiles used to fade from blank to a region it was much more obvious what regions were just introduced and which ones had already existed. Right now you can just look at the region level and if it's around 10 levels higher than you then it's fairly new...but that involves clicking the region tiles. (or moving close to them to check)

My idea is that there is a glow (nothing dramatic but still easy to see) added around regions that have appeared in the last 5 - 10 level ups.

You know you can hold the t key to see all the region levels, right? I think that he glow would be something new players would be forever asking about, and it would add a surprising load to the gpu, too.

I was thinking about the same issue -- and wasn't aware of the 't' key. Will try it. If you've been keeping up on scouting via the settlement then you can get a hint that way too. But I agree with Dizzard, the auto-discovery doesn't feel right

Instead of a glow, how about a half-dim view of the region? Then you can easily differentiate between 'out of my leaque' and 'haven't looked yet' and fits in with the current fog of war styling. Would give a better feel to the exploration part of the game, I think. You'd "uncover" areas you hadn't been to, even if only visually.

Well the glow isn't the most important side to this suggestion. It could be any sort of marker it doesn't need to be one that's rough on the gpu.

Well, showing a lot of new icons on all the regions in question would be rough on the GPU at the moment, based on what we're doing. There's a certain budget on number of things that can be drawn at once before the framerate goes down (and before things just get plain overwhelming to the player, too).

This seems more like a query sort of piece of information rather than something that always needs to be in your face, is part of it. Having a way to push some sort of hotkey and quickly see what regions are new would be interesting and probably pretty useful, but having it always be something that is in your view is something I don't think is warranted.

It's kind of like the galaxy map in AI War, really: there's only so much always-on info that can be squeezed into there and still have it be useful as an interface. But having all those other modes of ways to view the data, which you can switch between, is at the same time really useful. I guess I could see this kind of moving in that direction, where there are multiple overlays you could use to see different kinds of information.

Other games like SimCity or Civilization do that, too; you can't always see your water grid or your fire coverage or your political influence or whatever, but there are overlays for that.

Since whole continents are added at a time now, it should be obvious enough what was added anyway.
