| Description | The maps in both the strategic and settlement mode have been bothering me lately in regards to panning. It seems to break up my workflow every time I have to scroll all the way to the edge of the screen to pan, or to use the keyboard (I'm on a mac so I try to stray away from that due to the edge issues with key presses). I noticed recently that a good portion of other strategic type games have a system where right-clicking and holding on territory "grabs" the land and allows you to pan it freely. I think this would cut down on wasted time spent in these modes, and allow for much quicker scouting on the strategic map (esp. in the higher levels, and more so with multiple settlements) It's not the biggest issue in the world but I think it could improve the gameplay, what are everyone's thoughts? | ||||

It's an interesting idea, to be sure. Right-click is already used here, but using the middle mouse button (or a key combo plus left click, optionally) could do the same function. We'd then make an option to turn off edge panning, in general; you can also use keyboard panning, of course. In AI War, that's more or less what we do: 1. Option to turn off edge scrolling. 2. Middle mouse hold and drag to grab and drag the screen. 3. Arrow keys work to pan as well. |
