Summary | 0000441: When sending damaged ships through a wormhole, its healthbar is displayed in a semi-random place.
Description | When you send a ship that has its healthbar showing (i.e. has taken some damage), its healthbar is displayed in a seemingly random place. The place is the same for all ships sent through that wormhole, and it stays at the same place the next time you send ships through it. My best guess would be that it uses the coordinates of the other end of the wormhole, and thus displays the healthbars on the wrong planet, so to speak. The healthbars that are showing are removed when zooming or panning, and also vanish on their own after a second or two. I also think I saw a bug like this filed already, but I couldn't find it when I searched for it, so I don't know if it was closed or resolved or is still open.

Doesn't the healthbar spawns in the location it was in the previous system? Like if the wormhole was more in the "west"/left of the map, is it still there? |
I haven't checked the system they enter in, to be honest; my observations are only in the "sending" system, i.e. the wormhole that they enter, not the wormhole where they exit. |
So maybe the healthbars move to where the wormhole is on the exit side. Interesting. |
That is my guess as well. |
Does anyone have a save I can use for testing this? The issue isn't super obvious, and without a save this will take longer than I have at the moment. |
I can make one... One sec. |

Okay. The ships are at Iusisi at the wormhome to Sekrex, slightly damaged (and under attack, so don't delay too much. They should hold for a while though). Send them through back to Sekrex, and the healthbars should appear directly above the wormhole, about halfway between the wormhole to Sekrex and Iuschrhag. |
Chris, when you take a look at this, also run a test with icon-grouping off; I've seen cases before where it would send the health bars off into never-never land, and I think it was due to the x,y averages going bananas. But it may have simply been due to the "lead" ship in the group having changed planets or something like that. I certainly remember having put in safeguards against planet-confusion there, but who knows. |
I've also noticed (on astro trains, at least) that if you target them and hold ctrl to see the pretty blue target lines, when they warp, the lines shift positions for a short while (to the same place the healthbar is located). I'd assume it's the exact same issue with two slightly different symptoms. |
I was going to report this also. |
Keith, when you have a chance, can you take care of this one soon? It's the far zoom icon combination stuff, I believe. And I think it's more than just the health bars that jump around. Hopefully a relatively simple exclusion will fix this. |
Regarding the far-zoom icon combination thing... I've also seen this when fully zoomed in; does that make a difference? |
Oh, and the latest symptom of what I believe to be the same issue: Sometimes engineer drones run off, even if they're not placed in FRD. I noticed this when I had a drone near a wormhole and my usual setup of redirection posts (i.e. a post that pointed at each of my owned planets). Occasionally when damaged ships ran through a wormhole, the engineers would run off to the same place that the healthbars appeared. |
Humm -- yes, that is quite relevant. Interesting. |
