Summary | 0000357: game speed does affect animation speed
Description | Changing the game speed currently changes the speed of all animations, including things like blinking text, rotating forcefields and wormholes, etc. apart from partly looking bad, this has some negative effects - at +10 speed this has a noticeable performance impact, even while the game is paused - at -10 speed, you can see indvidual animation frames for like .5 seconds, so the animations look jerky. - when paused, wormholes don't rotate at all

This is by design, and is identical to the SlimDX version. Decoupling the simulation from the animation speed is a problem we had endlessly in Tidalis (where the animations were often framerate-dependent instead of simulation-speed dependent, but happily now both AI War and Tidalis are working as you describe. |
