ok the basic idea is that yes its much weaker than a normal fortress. however it has top ai priority since it has to be killed before taking out command station. has no taunt effect if not online/built completed yet.
it is inteneded to be wearker with guns because my thought is it would not have the standard weakness against bombers, and without the huge damage output will be vulnerable to any type of ai wave. limited range also prevents this from being a total wormhole blocking solution.
had an idea that you should be able to put ships in and not take them out. once they go in they are zombified/stupid ai controlled and only released on destruction with attack everything ai and human orders. so they wont count against ship limit after they go in. limited to ships no starships allowed.
so untimely destruction could lead to destroying your own command station its intedned to protect or be the delaying tactic you need to even up an ai strike force.
also would help prevent instant loss at your home command station with proper planning of late game. would put a good wrinkle anyway

30k is enough for missile turrets to cover all wormholes in most cases.

true however it also is not the 60k of most fortress that let them really hit anything

as a thought this could also be some type of capturable fortrees remains from the earlier war where they expirimented with the ai tech and didnt get it quite right. its a factory to build ai controlled ships not in the ai command loop but it didnt go quite right. like a golem once repaired it starts protecting the command station like the counterattack post but it starts manufacturing the "defenders" that are all beserker ships
