Summary | 0029202: How to make the table joke canon without making TMI look like an idiot
Description | Your furniture factory is still gearing up for mass production. So far, you've only made tables - they're a straightforward test of equipment tolerances. You expected the humans to take maybe one or two tables each, and wait until you were producing other items. This is not what has happened. The humans took every table they could carry, and began repurposing them into other furniture. There are upside-down tables with mattresses on them being used as beds, tables with the legs cut down as benches, even tables disassembled and reassembled into shelving units. Some humans are rapidly learning carpentry skills, and appear to be finding fulfilment from it. An interesting hypothesis: Do humans gain more benefit from being given what they need, or from being given the resources to build what they need? [Stick with the plan] In a few days you will be able to make a diverse array of furniture far more efficiently than humans can. If they require enrichment they can find it elsewhere. [Produce planks, dowels, and tools instead] The humans might actually know better than you do exactly what furniture they need. Plus, the development of a small carpentry industry could provide useful data. [Just keep making tables] It's more efficient for you at this point, and repurposing tables into other furniture appears to be keeping the humans quietly occupied. You can always change tack later if it becomes urgent.
