Summary0029176: Feedback on geothermal event
DescriptionSpecifically referring to the event where you go to scope out a geothermal plant and Baurcorp middle management offer you a nuke.

Here's how I went through this event the first time as a new player.

1) See the investigation target in what looks like a small military base. Assume a fight will happen like it did the last three times I tried to steal technology, spend a couple of turns surrounding the area with the Siberian Death Triangle of dug-in combot + redbot + sledge.
2) Send in a technician. The event tells me I can investigate with a technician, which will probably not succeed, or a PMC impostor. Choose "never mind" because I assume what it means is that this has random outcomes and sending in a technician is more likely to trigger a fight (this is partly my bad, I should have learned that if something doesn't have the dice icon, it doesn't have randomized outcomes).
3) Move my technician away, bring my PMC impostor from the other side of the map to do the event. Fortunately I actually had one; I was considering scrapping it to make room for more combots a few turns ago.
4) Attempt the event with the impostor, click the newly available "attempt with impostor" button. Get turned away.
5) Re-read the tooltip, it says if I'm having trouble I should go into combat stance. Put the impostor in combat stance, re-try the event, this time the only options are "attempt as technician" (greyed out) and "never mind".
6) Spend a while just being very confused and wondering if I broke the game.
7) Move the impostor away, pass a turn so I act first if a fight erupts.
8) Attempt the event with a technician again, the only options are "attempt as technician" and "never mind", I've already done never mind, there's nothing left but to try it with the technician.
9) This is what actually causes the event to succeed. To add insult to injury, the fight I spent two turns preparing for didn't happen.

This made me feel like an idiot. I'm not entirely sure how to make it better - is there a compelling reason for the dead-end "attempt as PMC imposter" option to even be there? Is there any way to detect if the player tries and fails to move to the event (due to not being in combat stance) and *then* pop up a "combat stance lets you move into restricted areas" toast rather than having it in the mission objective?

I'm also not sure if it needs to be changed at all. I might just be an idiot!
