Summary | 0002894: Allow adding allied ships to control groups in multiplayer
Description | My friend and I play AI war, almost always together. During our games, we frequently delegate responsibilities, including control of certain types of ships. In my case, I am usually responsible for the Raid starships. However, because I'm not able to add my allies' ships to my control group, I'm forced to follow the task force visually through each jump and "re-acquire" them by double clicking on one of them (mine or theirs). It would be nice if I could just add my allies' ships into a control group permanently! =)

Hmm, I think it used to be that if you tried to assign an allied ship to a control group, it doesn't get put into your control group, but theirs (yea, it was weird). Not sure if it still is that way, or if trying to assign a control group to an allied ship is a no-op. Most certainly would support this though. Frequently I like to be the defensive guy, and let others use my ships for attack. This would help them greatly. |

What TechSY said was confirmed by a friend and I tonight... if I try to put his ships in one of my control groups, it actually assigns them to HIS control group, without giving me any feedback. Seems like they should be in mine, instead of screwing with his groups, if possible? |

This issue is irritating and has come up in just about every game I've played. Usually we have one or two people managing fleets, and another doing raid type attacks further out on tachyon guardians or other misc things. |

* Previously, when a player was controlling an ally's ships and tried to put that ship into a control group, it would add it to the ally's control group instead of the local player's control group. Having cross-player control groups is not possible without really expanding the control group data structure, which doesn't seem like a good idea to do at the present time, so for the time being allied ships simply won't go into control groups if a player tries to put them in there, at least cutting out the worst of the confusion. |

This suggestion has been around for a while. Has there been any changes in the control group data structure since that would make it more feasible? For my friends and me, it would *definitely* be a plus. |
