Summary | 0002807: Text entry in notes on galaxy map isn't working
Description | Please see http://steamcommunity.com/id/timtowtiddy/screenshot/542886362985572379 for an example. On the galaxy map, creating a note on a planet brings up the note entry screen, as expected. The planet name is in the top box, and has the text-entry cursor blinking in it; clicking in the larger text-entry area does NOT change the location of the cursor. I could type normally, as long as the number of characters entered is less than or equal to the length of the planet name; after that many characters, any more are entered in backwards, as if being entered while looking in a mirror. For example: "12345678901234567890", entered in the large text box, on a planet named Arcengames, would result in "12345678900987654321" inside the box. Thought I'd pass it along. PC is a Dell Latitude E6400 with the nVidia Quadro NVS 160M chipset (latest drivers from Dell), Windows 7 64-bit with 4GB RAM. Thx

I should add that I marked this as a major bug, because if you can't leave a note for yourself or a teammate, you could forget what you wanted to remind yourself of, and potentially lose an in-progress game for lack of clear information... |
Odd... After several iterations of recreating the problem, it's not happening all of a sudden. Please ignore. |

No, there are several similar entries in here. (someone should probably relate them accordingly) It is an intermittent bug (one of the worst kinds to track down). Sometime the cursor and selection will show, sometimes it won't. I haven't seen a case where a writable text-box could not be changed, but anyone who has (and has TRIED to edit it, instead of merely saying they can't because they don't see a cursor) should probably post that, as that would be a much more serious issue. |
I have the same issue, it happens to me once in a while. Only thing I can do to fix it is to restart the game (solely reloading a save doesn't work). |
I've found the same issue (see backwardPrintingBug.tiff). I have a save-game if it will help. As you can see, I have a rather long "note" on my home planet... could that be a trigger? (But the backwards-text behavior happens in all planet text boxes I've checked.) Running iMac (24-inch, Early 2009) 2.66 GHz with OSX 10.5.8, 4GB RAM. |
