Summary0002694: EMP Alert
DescriptionWould be nice to have a warning about EMP guardians zapping systems. After all an EMP guardian can create an immediate breach in your defenses. Even worse is to see a Speed Racer rush one of them towards your homeworld...

You do get the "warhead has been detonated" sound when they detonate. But of course warheads currently get a textual alert as well. These do not.

And you get the visual :)
But when it happens it is usually too late to do anything about it.
Simple thing with this ships is that you just dont want to allow it to reach your part of space, when it enters the first wormhole and your fleet happens to be there .. it hurts .. a lot.
Not sure there should be a warning though, they are easy enough to take down and if you get a warning they most likelly would lose their usefullness to the AI. (Depending on if you mean you should get a warning before they intend to enter a planet of yours(no), or when they have entered(ok, but fairly pointless).)

Well, when you have multiple planets and the first one gets EMP'd at least you'd know to respond to it before it advances to the next.

Afaik, at least thats how they seem to work in my game and the tooltips says, they explode when entering a human planet, so they wont go for the next planet, just paralize the first planet they enter.
That is however based mostly on the tooltip, and the single time I didnt keep my guard up enough and allowed my fleet to be surprised when being repaired.

I don't think they explode, they EMP stuff but they live after that.

My bad, just loaded an older savegame to check them out again, seems you are right.

That does make them a bit more nasty, however since my previous post I have encountered more guardians, that as the EMP-guadian, can really hurt you if not ready for them or you stay on alert all the time (rallypoint/self destruct/warp gate/.. guardians come to mind).
I think it might work better if you always get a warning if there are any guardians on your planets. That removes the need to make some guardians special in this regard and solves any issues with you not being aware of these extreme threats on your planet. However, as we already have the setting to give a warning when enemies are on your planets I would think we are good :)

Thanks!

* When planet-wide EMP or tachyon detonations occur, as from a warhead or an EMP guardian, a chat message is now sent to the human players telling them who detonated what, and where. This message is also clickable. The goal here is preventing EMP guardians from punching QUITE so impenetrable a hole in player defenses without notice.
