Summary0000252: Grab Bag
DescriptionThe player who chooses this bonus type unlocks a category of a "grab bag" ship type--it uses its own slots and the ships created cannot be self-destroyed. When created, a random ship type owned by the player and allies is created; these units are recognized by the game as individual units (you can double click on them to select all of those types), but still use the Grab Bag ship population. Cannot be manipulated other than creating more Grab Bag units when they are destroyed!

The benefit is that the cost of a Grab Bag ship is lower than the average of the ships being created.

Use
Encourages players to use a multi-typed fleet due to the randomization of units being created. They can refuse to create Grab Bag units, and choose to manufacture the 'normal' ship categories instead but at the loss of benefit to the Grab Bag's bargain. This is generally one of the more "cooler" specializations, and players will have to macro a bit more if there are teleport units.
