Summary | 0002225: Steam version keyboard input not working except in text fields, and the sticky key issue when it does.
Description | I purchased the Steam version and played a few hours playing on a windows 2k laptop where I noticed the "sticky" key issue. I installed it on a Windows XP desktop and the keyboard will not work in game at all other than to fill in selected text fields. You cannot remap the keys as they are not recognized, and Esc will not bring up the menu so that you can exit (have to alt-f4 or alt-tab and close)

Apologies for the delay on this, it was new years eve and then it was lost in the backlog for a bit. Just found this now. When you are in the game, I presume there is nothing next to the mouse cursor showing some keys as held down? Have you tried hitting Shift and then hiding the Steam overlay to see if it was somehow interfering with keyboard input? You might also want to try running the game directly from its Steam install folder, rather than from the Steam client, just to see if it is indeed something with the Steam client messing with it. That would take Steam out of the equation, at least. Beyond that... you might also try looking in the RuntimeData folder inside the game's folder to see if it's having some sort of errors logged there (please post them if so). If nothing is there, after running the game and failing to click some keys, could you look in the AIWar_Data folder under the game folder and post the output.log file from there? This is a very odd issue, I've never heard of this one before, but hopefully one of those things will lead to some results. Thanks for your support! |

I reinstalled and tried running it from the folder instead and everything worked as it should...I then tried running it from steam and it worked as it should. I patched it, and its running fine - I can't reproduce the behavior any more so perhaps another process got stuck and was taking keyboard focus or something equally bizarre. We can close the ticket and thanks for the reply. I promise I did have the issue when I opened the request ;) |

Well, I'm glad to hear it worked out, anyway! Sounds like maybe it was just "one of those things" on windows -- it happens! |
