Summary | 0002126: No reactor/harvester destruction on command station scrapping
Description | Would it be possible to make it so that reactors and harvesters are not destroyed when you scrap a command station? I often do this, for example when I unlock a higher mark command station and want to replace all my low-mark stations, and it's now a pretty severe economic hit. To avoid being abused, perhaps command stations could be unscrappable as long as there are enemy ships in the system?

And with this proposed change, what is to prevent you from building the command station, building your stuff, scrapping the command station, and having harvesters and energy on a neutral planet? Part of this whole change was to stop this sort of thing; if you want to keep harvesters and energy, you gotta keep the planet, not just take it. However, maybe their can be a time delay of a few seconds on energy and harvester destruction if the command station died due to scrapping. This way, you can't have a neutral planet producing resources, but you still have enough time to replace your command station before they blow up. |
This should do it: * It is now possible to replace an existing command station that belongs to you all in one action: simply build the new command station on an planet and it will replace the existing one. ** Additionally, when this action is taken, it no longer triggers the when-command-station-dies logic for other ships on the planet; they don't notice the swap. This is extremely useful for reactors and harvesters, which otherwise would be unavoidably destroyed when the command station was scrapped before the replacement was built. ** This also causes the planet to not leave control of the player, even while the command station replacement is self-building, whereas before it would normally have been neutral in color for a while. |
This replacing only works if it is the same player building it as the player who owns the old one, right? Otherwise, think of the trolling possibilities. :o |
Right, only same player. |
Alternately, some mechanism to directly upgrade command stations to their higher-Mark forms would skip this entire difficultly entirely. EDIT: Wow, ninja'd badly. That's what I get for not refreshing the page. xD |
