Summary | 0002043: Optional AI Plot - The Final Battle
Description | For the diehard amongst us, i suggest an AI plot that takes place when the final Homeworld is destroyed. A 15 minute or longer countdown ensues. All AI ships will be rendered offline as a result of the core logic no longer responding. Unfortunatly the last AI send a galaxy wide message, Obliterate Sector 0,0 - The Human Homeworld. All AI ships will now be freed to leave their guardposts and make haste to the Human Homeworld, destroying anything in their path. If the humans can survive this onslaught then victory is assured... and sweet it is.

The only problem with that is that you'll have a case where 5-40K ships are suddenly set free, and that's a major performance hassle. The avenger performs a similar function, but it's a single unit, but I understand your desire. :p |

Ok have only X% set free. X being the percentage of planets left under AI control. Also would make a deepstrike win exceptionally painful in the end :P I know avenger is for this kind of thing but the second avenger doesn't really count as it's already game over. Anyways just something to think about, some sort of closure to the game. |

We'd probably just have the freed ships be "rolled up" into a fleet of 1000-2000 ships of various sizes (based off of the raw firepower or point value or whatever of the ships thus consumed), and they would be spawned from some point and act much like the avenger. And rather than placing some time-limit after the destruction of the AI home command station they would just be triggered when the last core guard post went down and the AI home command station could not be damaged until all/most of them were destroyed. Either way (just freeing everything, or rolling-up-into-a-strikefleet), this would be susceptible to the player feeling like they needed to neuter every AI planet before attacking the homeworlds, to cut down on the "raw material" that would be thrown at them. Some players might find that entertaining but I think in general it's not a good thing. |
