Summary | 0001796: Trade Network - Equalizer and Net Income Increase Between Players
Description | From: http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,2559.0.html Upon constructing at least two trade structures, a Trade Network is created amongst planets. Uncontrollable Cargo Convoys are generated from the structure and begin traveling to other friendly planets whom are hosting a trade structure. Different from Train Stations, Cargo Convoys choose the best path in traveling, and never travel through a neutral or hostile planet. While it serves as a slight economy boost for a single player, when multiple friendly factions have these structures they begin to share and equalize the amount of economy every player has. Players must be cautious about constructing these at border worlds or any world that is under threat of attack, for when one of these are lost, the cargo is destroyed (consequently economy is lost). It is best to deploy these structures at planets whom are best isolated from enemy forces. AI and Players can have these structures (player destroying AI trades gain them resources from the cargo).

It should give the same amount of economic surplus regardless of single or multi player to not make it harder than to play single player vs multi. Perhaps the amount of resources gained could be increased based on the minimum numbers of planets distant, to possibly promote having longer stretches of harder to defend planets in exchange for an economic advantage vs having a ball of turtled planets with less of one. This is kind of a trope of 4x games so it should be grasped fairly intuitively for anyone familiar with 4x games. Edit: I guess if it improves the planet economy of any planet it passes through, that would make it more beneficial to have long planet strings instead of a ball. It should probably have a heft power cost so they aren't built just anywhere and some thought has to go into it. |
