Summary | 0017821: Needs a visible hitbox
Description | In a game where you spend so much time dodging, and your ship spends so much time twisting about, it's super important to have it be very clear exactly what parts of your ship actually take damage.

All of the ships have a visible hitbox, but on a all but the Black and White ships, the color used does not stand out. |

You can actually (for now) hit F7 to show where the hitboxes on *everything* is (makes it real easy to see it). That being said, I totally agree with this. I dont think the F7 display should be on all the time.... you'll see what I mean if you turn it on.... but I do think there should be an option to just display the player's own hitbox constantly. |

Is this what games of this kind do? Doesn't if feel really weird and game-y to see your hitbox? |

Well, actual bullet-hell shmups do this pretty much always, because in those, it's absolutely necessary. Dont do it, and you give the player massive frustration. Bullet patterns in those games can become so very, very congested that the tiny, miniscule hitbox you have (which can sometimes be like, a block of exactly 4 pixels) is only JUST small enough to pass between bullets. Usually, it's represented by a small glowy spot in the center of the sprite. In this game, this is NOT a true bullet-hell game, and I think most players wont actually NEED this, or even want it. But having the option to show it is a good idea, I think, since some players will be kinda expecting it. Heck, I've had frustration in some games myself from not quite knowing exactly where it is. Isaac does this, his exact hitbox is hard to figure out, particularly as his appearance and size gets more and more bizarre, and that can lead to some stupid damage. Visible hitboxes on the player allows people to better avoid that, if they wish to use it. I think it should default to being off, though. |

:) * The new mech designs include a cockpit that changes colors/designs as your health gets lower and your shields are on/off. This central cockpit is also brightly colored and the exact size of your hitbox, which is pretty useful for dodging. |
