Summary | 0017682: Rural Farms Tile Image
Description | This is me nitpicking a bit, but I've decided I'm not a fan of the rural farms appearance. The terrain generally looks lovely and flows together well. The buildings are detailed and interesting while being distinct from the terrain, even the mine and lumber camps strike a good balance as something in between. This is true for all buildings I've used thus far from Act 1-2. And the alien AI structures/terrain are good stuff too. The exception to the above are the player's rural farms. They don't have the distinction or detail of other player buildings, and they don't have the lovely flow or detail of the terrain. It's like the Rural Farms came from a different game at this stage of SBR's development, especially clumped together, which they will be for the associated bonus. They no longer fit the aesthetic of everything else, even color pallet-wise (compared to parks/general terrain, bland water tiles are their closest kins). Part of that is they're presented exactly like terrain but do not flow together like terrain. They break each other up in sharp, unnatural ways. They're also flat and simplistic-looking compared to the rest of the terrain at this point, and doubly so compared to any other structure. Reworking them might be something to consider if your artist manages to hit a point where they're not churning out needed things.
